In the Mind of Madness

I am so upset. I read something…saying people who read the “good book” and were Christian were good people…does that mean I am a bad person because I do not? No, I don’t believe in a God…female is what I believe in! A Goddess!!! So am I bad because I have no church or no book to go by? Does that mean that I will always be bad and hated???

Why do I have to suffer??? I don’t understand it! Why are people so close-minded and judgmental??? Why can’t they see? Why can’t I be good??? I am set apart from everyone else…all those self-righteous, and proud Christians….they hurt me so bad!!!

I’m not sure what it was that you read. I’m sorry that you are feeling hurt. I hope you won’t mind if I point out that I can’t follow your logic here regarding how anyone is calling you bad. Maybe it’s part of what you read that I don’t have access to.

The author of what you read may have stated a belief that readers of “the good book” and Christians are good people. Okay, that sounds like a generalization to me, but I don’t see where it says or implies that anyone who isn’t a Christian or doesn’t read the good book is bad or hated.

I have been told by people who believe differently than I do that my religion was bad and that I wouldn’t be saved because of it. I am Christian, but some Christians would exclude me because it is a different denomination than theirs. It’s not nice to be told that someone thinks you are bad because you are different. I have written to the author of a website (which was not primarily about religion, but included a page that listed religions that the author believed were not Christian and wanted to warn members that they were condemned), to ask the author to reconsider. I had quite a discussion with that web author, and we ended up deciding that we would not agree, but we understood each other a little better. Ultimately, I was up against one person’s statement of their belief, which I disagree with. I know that I am not condemned just because someone believes differently than I do and wants to say that I am.

I believe that true Christians would accept you as a child of God, first and foremost. I’m sorry that you have felt excluded. BTW, I do believe that there are goddesses too. Even if this world was created by a paternal God (my belief there), wouldn’t that mean that we also have a mother?

Maybe we are all more alike than it seems on the surface.

I don’t think you are a bad person at all. Yes, I am of christian belief. But I don’t think that makes me or anyone else for that matter, above other people. From what I have seen around the boards, you seem to be a wonderful, supportive person with a lovely heart. In fact, I quite admire you! I would never want you to feel badly about yourself or feel like you are excluded because of your beliefs. I know how that feels as well and it isn’t pleasant.

    Much love to you!

Honestly I think that a lot of the Christian community is very judgmental when in reality they aren’t being what they are clamming to be at all. Yes I am a Christian and from I have read on the forum here you are a good person and I respect you and like you (from what I do know) based on that and that alone and that is what is important not your believes but who you are. I am very sorry that you were hurt. I believe that what you believe and do is your business. how you treat others is what in the end is what matters, from what I have read you treat others with respect and support even if you dont agree with what is said you do. I hope you find some comfort that not all of us are judging you and see you for the person you are inside.
